Facilities Committee goals of Sekhet-Maat Lodge for the common year 2008

Values
The self creation and manifestation of our Temple.
- Our central location for members enabling it to be the focal point of our work
- Our functional and workable kitchen
- Our ethos of cleanliness
- Our use of our space for art!
- Taking on the role of setting the example in the greater OTO community
- Temple is a dedicated 24/7 single use facilitiy
- Temple space is open to all membership for private use
- Multi-use, functional space allows for performing the rituals rightly, with Joy and Beauty
- Our use of the exterior face and garden to contribute to Beauty of our neighborhood
- Adequate storage space for general use and initiation equipment
- Lodge provides incidental supplies such as minor first aid and cosmetics etc., for member use

Vision Statement
The Facilities Committee exists to maintain and improve the utility and beauty of the facility for the purpose of performing the rituals with joy and beauty so that we may promulgate the Law of Thelema.

Goals for 2008
Goal: Put up black curtain wings, black fabric on partition and replace yellow curtains.
- Assigned to: Sr. Story
- Current Status: Sr. Story is currently working on scheduling this in two parts. First part will be to sew/hang the "wing" curtains. Second part will be to get an approved budget for replacement of yellow curtains and then schedule that.
- FYI, the budget for replacement of the yellow curtains should only include the hardware, we are recycling black fabric for this, so no need to purchase anything. --Misskim 15:18, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Goal: Paint kitchen, office, and railings.
- Assigned to: Fr. Fetter
- Current Status: In progress.
- Discussion with JP and others, Kitchen needs cleaning and NOT repainting. Office and railings of course still do need to be painted.
- Kitchen walls cleaned.
- Kitchen Pass-through painted. ~Fr. Fetter
- I need to acquire metal sand paper and paint for the railings then get some volunteers to help paint them. --Fr. Fetter 15:20, 8 March 2008 (PST)
Goal: Provide storage for lances and swords.

- Current Status: Complete
- Sr. Story found and implemented the perfect solution: a yard tool rack.
Goal: Provide storage for artwork and change art hanging process (hardware).
- Assigned to: Fr. ΝΘΛΜΚΜΝΡΓ
- Current Status: Researching.
- Considering the idea of using the space above the bathroom for storage. This would require putting in a "floor" above the bathroom, and dowels placed vertically. Third-party professional art storage is also a possibility. --Fr. HydraLVX
- Hanging art will be simple but possibly expensive. A couple of possibilities, wooden molding or a professional gallery hanging system, are being considered. --Fr. HydraLVX
- I need measurements for the area above the bathroom to determine how much it would cost for wood to put a ceiling on it as well as the dowels for the art storage. --Fr. Fetter 15:23, 8 March 2008 (PST)
Goal: Frame Tree of Life poster, create Lost & Found sign, and fire/water shelf signs.
- Assigned to: Sr. Aletheia Mnemonicas
- Current Status: Have replaced the poster itself as the old one was marked up and old. In budgeting for matting and frame. Lost and found sign is created, need to hang.
- I bought a new poster and have given it to Fr. ΝΘΛΜΚΜΝΡΓ for matting and hanging. I will email him today and remind him of this. --Misskim 15:18, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
- The tree of life poster has been desired in the last couple classes. Based on that, the priority has been escalated. I spoke to Fr. ΝΘΛΜΚΜΝΡΓ and he said he will take care of it soon. --Fr. Fetter 15:26, 8 March 2008 (PST)
Goal: Replace / improve lighting in temple.
- Assigned to: Fr. ΝΘΛΜΚΜΝΡΓ
- Current Status: Researching.
- Electrical considerations: Although there is massive wattage coming into the building, enough to power lights for a rock concert, we are not wired to take advantage of this, at all, and so we sometimes have to be careful not to break a circuit in using kitchen appliances, space heaters, or the like. With the temple lighting in particular, the wattage drawn from the existing fixtures is slightly above what the light switch is designed to handle, so it causes the light switch to produce a bit of heat. --Fr. - We are exploring conversion to CFBs, LEDs, or any other low-wattage lighting (see below also), which has the potential to circumvent the need for an electrician. It's important to have a rich spectrum of light though, for the viewing of art inside the Lodge, the comfort of our eyes, and to offset those dreary winter days with no sun. --Fr. HydraLVX
Goal: Replace / improve sound system.

- Current Status:
- In research, it will then move to budgeting process before implementation
- Sent to Executive for design approval

Goal: Continue to improve usefulness and beauty of Kitchen.
- Assigned to: Fr. Khabs Kaos
- Current Status: Fr. Khabs Kaos has discussed with Br. RW and the current pass-through will come in under budget and will allow for more shelves in the kitchen area. Fr. KK and Sr. AM will plan a field trip to Ikea to discuss further options.

Goal: Manage the painting and hanging of new ceiling banners.

- Current Status: In progress.
- Some new ceiling banners were recently hung.

Goal: Ensure that the consumables inventory is continually monitored and stocked.
- Assigned to: Sr. Hanashi
- Current Status: Ongoing.
- Sr. Hanashi has a current listing of consumables and will be working to find the best implementation process.
- Sr. Hanashi has been working on this continually and it appears she has been successful in restocking items.--Misskim 15:18, 2 May 2008 (EDT)
Goal: Quarterly meeting of Facilities Committee Chair with a member of the Executive to facilitate ease of management and delegation.
- Assigned to: Fr. Fetter
- Current Status: Complete
- Need to schedule first quarterly meeting soon. --Fr. Fetter
- The first meeting has been held and it has been decided that we do not need any further meetings. Simple email check-ins should suffice. --Fr. Fetter 15:30, 6 May 2008 (PST)
Goal: Assign inspector at each lodge cleaning to ensure quality cleaning and maintenance work is done.
- Assigned to: Fr. Fetter
- Current Status: Ongoing.
- Need to determine if there is somebody who regularly shows up for lodge cleaning and is detail oriented so-as to be a good fit for this. The other potential option is to choose somebody each time at the beginning of lodge cleaning. --Fr. Fetter
Goal: Posting reminder for Lodge Cleaning and include Lost & Found reminder each month.
- Assigned to: Fr. Fetter
- Current Status: Ongoing.

Goal: Design and schedule quarterly cleaning of clutter from the lodge by the “Clutter Queens”

- Current Status:
Timeline implemented:

- Done. Made listing of items in lodge to be replaced to provide for more efficient use of space and aesthetic.
- March 1

Goal: Inspect and maintain facility for needed maintenance on monthly basis.
- Assigned to: Fr. IOI
- Current Status: Fr. IOI has a schedule for checking maintenance and will report all items in need of work to Fr. Fetter.
- Wood flooring under carpet needs to be repaired as it is lifting up.
- One of the latches on the windows needs to be fixed.
- Battery for clock needs to be replaced. I purchased batteries today and will replace them tonight. ~Fr. Fetter 16:10, 15, April 2008 (PST)
Goal: Appoint a green inspector to propose changes to make the Lodge more environmentally friendly.
- Assigned to: Fr. Pangloss
- Current Status: Researching options.
- New energy saving light bulbs are being purchased. ~Fr. Fetter

- I asked a friend of the lodge, who is very keen to be green, to make an assessment of what needs to be done for us to get more environmentally friendly. She has taken an assessment and I'm waiting on the suggestions. --Fr. Fetter 15:42, 6 May 2008 (PST)
Goal: Create facilities budget 2008.
- Assigned to: Fr. Fetter (reassigned as new Chair)
- Current Status: Complete
- In process, need to collate numbers and recheck.
- Consumables numbers collated from last year's numbers, all special project budgets will come as we begin implementation, considered complete.

Goal: Touch up red paint on temple electrical outlets and curtains (and/or pin them together)
- Assigned to: Fr. Fetter
- Current Status: Complete
- One coating of paint touch up has happened, including fixing/painting the new damage done to the wall due to the falling partition. Research is being done on the best way to velcro/fix the curtains together.
- Project of touch up for black paint sent to Fr. Fetter on 1/28/08.
- Purchased black paint and new paint brush. ~Fr. Fetter

Goal: Shave off part of southern temple/classroom door so that it closes smoothly.

Goal: Finish painting exterior with stencils.

- Current Status: Had dates planned but moved due to weather.
